Chile duty free

The following goods may be imported into Chile without incurring customs duty by travellers above the age of 14 years:

 

• 400 cigarettes (by travellers aged 18 and over only).

• 2.5L of alcoholic drinks (by travellers aged 18 and over only).

• Gifts to the value of US$300.

• 2 mobile phones.

• 1 photo camera.

• purchases made in duty free shops up to the value of US$675.

• medication for personal use with a doctor's prescription.

 

It is obligatory to pay customs for personal belongings up to the value of US$3000 and items with commercial character up to the value of US$1000. When exceeding these limits, importers are obliged to make use of the services of customs agencies. 

Prohibited Imports

Food (fruit, vegetables, meat and meat products) cannot be imported unless you have the appropriate documents and permits. Discard any uneaten food given to you by the airlines upon arrival.

Other banned items include used cars, drugs and pharmaceutical products.
